H'okay, so. Here is the lifepath.

Basics

Starting at 12 (for humes, at least), you have a number of Major Events occur in your life. Determine how many by 1d4+1.

For each event, you roll to determine what kind of event, and then determine what happened.

In addition, for each event, you roll on the Event Reaction table to determine how the event impacts your ethos.
